Fairfield East Community Center Offers a Wide Range of Services
Recovery Point West Virginia (RPWV) offers several programs of recovery services to individuals with substance use disorder at no cost to participants. The organization began as The Healing Place of Huntington in 2011 and has graduated more than 300 individuals from its effective recovery programs. Approximately 68 percent of alumni surveyed maintain sobriety for at least one year (Government Performance Results Act, 2014). Our alumni also show a 90 percent reduction in reliance on public assistance (GPRA, 2014).
Recovery Point WV programs are based on the principles of unconditional love and personal accountability. The organization consists of several large, long-term residential programs, three for men (Huntington – 100 beds, Bluefield -62, and Parkersburg – 80) and one for women (Charleston – 100). The residential program follows a peer-driven recovery model based on the 12 steps of Alcoholics Anonymous. Residents must attend on-site and outside support meetings and follow evidence-based curriculum to complete the program, which takes between 6 to 12 months and follows a phased approach to recovery.
The organization also operates the HER Place program in Huntington including drop-in recovery coaching and a 10-bed home for women. The recovery home model is different from the long-term facilities, requiring clients to find employment and pay a program fee while still providing the tools and resources needed for long-term recovery. RPWV provides training for the Peer Recovery credential recognized by the West Virginia Board of Addiction and Prevention Professionals also at no cost to trainees, helping individuals enter a growing career field.
Recovery Point WV is cost effective, providing services at a cost of $25 per client per day instead of $50 a day in jail or $250 a day at a medical treatment facility. It is one of the largest organizations providing addiction recovery services in the state.
