My life was on a very rough path leading up to me entering RPP. I had abandoned my kids, financial burdens, let down a lot of family and friends, and spent many days in a dark spot. On the last day that I used, I ended up in Parkersburg at another rehab facility for 30 days. During that time I had intentions to go back to Florida to use a man to manipulate my way back through there. On the last week of that treatment center. My ex-wife did the best thing she could do and canceled my private insurance which in turn led to a case manager making the best decision of my life sending me to Recovery Point Parkersburg.
I arrived at Recovery Point at the end of December 2018 day one of a 14-day lockdown where I watched a lot of people having a great time and a lot of other people like myself still in our misery. I entered the program and started doing the step work and the behavior modification that the program offers. It took me 14 months to make it through that program, but coming out the other side taught me a valuable lesson. I had a fellowship of brothers like no other who would be there for me no matter what. I had a job being a BHT and later moved on to the director of operations of a rehab facility. All my financial burdens have been repaid, and I have a life that most would love to have. But the main thing that I got out of that program was how to love one another, which intern made me a better, father.. my life isn’t perfect, but I always have a Home at Recovery Point to go back to to get myself grounded again. I am a proud alumni of the program and use it still today to work on bettering myself.
