Lloyd Frazier

My name is Lloyd Frazier. I am a graduate of Recovery Point Parkersburg, a substance use disorder treatment facility in West Virginia. My sobriety date is December 30, 2018. During my time in treatment, I attended groups in the facility and twelve-step recovery meetings in Parkersburg and surrounding cities. The inpatient groups showed me how to build relationships and utilize a community of people as a support system. The community recovery meetings helped me better understand myself and grow my resilience. Both of these components have been critical in ensuring my ongoing sobriety.

Before I went to treatment, I did not see much of a plan for my life. I felt unemployable and buried beneath all of the consequences of my addiction. I had student loans, no license, and had not worked a stable job in years. After completing Recovery Point’s program, I was inspired to continue growing personally and professionally. I was able to obtain stable employment, housing, my license, and a vehicle. I was also able to pay my own bills. I became a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, then an Approved Medication Assistance Personnel, and finally a Registered Nurse. Now, I plan to become a Nurse Practitioner.

Recovery Point Parkersburg helped me discover hope in my life again. Through service, honesty, and integrity, I found that my life could have renewed purpose. By learning to cope with stress and practice acceptance, I learned how to persevere through difficult times. I could not be more grateful for the lessons Recovery Point taught me. It is a program that I know will always offer me a hand when I am struggling, and a family that will always support me in my time of need.
